Lion’s Head is a central location on The Bruce Peninsula, and Taylor-Made B&B is the perfect home base for a wonderful vacation.

The Visitor Centre at www.centralbrucepeninsula.ca can answer all your questions but here are a few suggestions.

For more information on all of the Bruce Peninsula and current events you may want to visit www.naturalretreat.com

Lion's Head

Lion’s Head offers a good variety of shops including a grocery store, pharmacy, liquor/beer store, convenience store with movie rentals, a hardware store as well as boutiques offering local crafts and antiques. We have a protected harbour with a paved boat launch and fish cleaning station; try your luck fishing off the docks!

Swimming in Georgian Bay is just two blocks away at the sandy Lion’s Head beach, or for variety, swimming is available in Lake Huron on the other side of the Bruce Peninsula at Myles Bay just 12 km away.

Tobermory

Taylor-Made B&B is just 50 km from Tobermory, a picturesque village at the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula with its quaint shops and wonderful restaurants.

Here is a full day of activities including viewing shipwrecks from a glass bottom boat, have a look at www.blueheronco.com or take a cruise to beautiful Flowerpot Island.

Sauble Beach

Sauble Beach is just 55 km south of Lion’s Head. Here you will find a long sandy beach and amusement park for the family and Sauble Speedway for the motorheads.

Be sure to check out www.saublebeach.com.

Bruce Trail
Of course one of the main attractions in the area is the beautiful Bruce Trail and we are located just a block away from the trail. Many of our guests make a point of hiking to Lion’s Head Lookout and the Gun Point Trail, said to offer some of the most spectacular views on the Bruce Peninsula. Whatever skill level you are, we can provide you with trail maps; be sure to look at www.brucetrail.org and www.canadatrails.ca.

For those more experienced long distance hikers have a look at www.hometohomenetwork.ca , we can transport your luggage or vehicle to your next B&B!

Where to Eat
There are restaurants to satisfy any taste in the area. In Lion’s Head Marydale’s offers casual family dining, the Lion’s Head Inn has great food with a pub atmosphere and the Corner Convenience will take you back to the 50’s and 60’s with their countertop and bar stools. Just a short drive from Taylor-Made B&B is Tamarac Island Inn, in Stokes Bay, great food, home like atmosphere and don’t miss the Friday night rib special.

Don’t feel like going out? Why not order a pizza in town and enjoy a quiet dinner on our deck or in the dining room.

The Birds & The Bees
For a more relaxed day why not look for some of the unique wildflowers and birds in the area. Enjoy the numerous beautiful gardens in our region, many of them open to the public, see www.ruralgardens.ca. The Bruce Peninsula is also home to many species of birds and plants you will not find anywhere else in Ontario.

Rock Climbing
Rock climbing is very popular on the Bruce Peninsula and Lion’s Head has been featured in Gripped Magazine as one of the best places around. The Visitor Centre at www.centralbrucepeninsula.ca can help you with any questions.

Scuba Diving
Ever wanted to try scuba diving? Tobermory is one of the most popular scuba diving destinations in North America and the people at www.gswatersports.com will get you started.

Lighthouses
Lighthouses on the Bruce Peninsula are a look back at our history. You’ll need a whole day to see all of them. Each one is beautiful, well kept and as with everything here, have film in your camera or nowadays, memory space available. Have a sneak preview at www.cabothead.ca

Fun in the Snow
We are still here when the snow flies, Taylor-Made B&B is open all year and just 200 meters from the snowmobile trail through Lion’s Head. We’ll be here with a hot coffee, tea, or bowl of soup when you get off the trail, a cozy living room to put your feet up and swap trail stories before retreating to a nice warm bed. In the morning you’ll find a wonderful breakfast to get you going again. Be sure to look at www.ofsc.on.ca and have a look at www.ontariosnowmobiling.com. Please, remember trail permits are required in Ontario.

For a quieter winter vacation there is snowshoeing and cross country skiing close by. For ski and snowshoe-rentals please contact 'Suntrail Source For Adventure' in Hepworth at www.suntrail.net
